My new favorite Egyptology news source

Even better, I can enjoy it openly without fear of negative career repercussions!  (No, I'm not kidding or exaggerating - people refer to Hawass in code while in Egypt "just in case.")

You have no idea how much I wish the t-shirts were actually for sale...

Egyptastic - peruse the archives, I'm pretty sure "ZH" doesn't have access to the visitor logs.

Why do they refer to him in code?

He has a major amount of power and influence and there is fear that if you say something bad about him, or even say something that he disagrees with, it will get back to him and possibly result in it becoming far more difficult or even impossible for you to work in Egypt. Thus "the code" - in some ways probably a bit melodramatic, but it gives you an idea of the mindset and setting of a lot of the projects in Egypt.
He has more or less banned a few people from working again in Egypt due to scholarly disagreements - Joann Fletcher is probably the best known and most publicly known example.

AHHH I see :) I knew who he was and about the major amount of power. I think my boyfriend is in love with him. (He likes Egypt.. AND power.)

Zahi is definitely a mix of Egypt and power... Plus he has an awesome side business selling his trademark hats.
